16 Chinese Dramas I have loved so far…
Notes:
The primary plan was to enlist 10 dramas. I couldn’t resist adding 6 more. Next time I will create a new post including new loved dramas if I happen to watch any. Want to make the post a bit shorter to keep it sweet n simple. p.s.- trying to control the urge of binge watching so that I can write here :p
There is no hierarchy while mentioning the names. To me, a modest fan of C-dramas, they are all precious n worthy to watch again n again! Numbers are conveying just how many are mentioned here.
I have chosen the dramas based on most engaging story, costumes, scenes, and music which felt like taking me to a different universe. Choosing process was very personal. There are still many more stories out there I haven’t watch yet. I can’t watch everything. I get it n I have settled myself with this limitation.
Now without further ado, let’s start with the list, shall we? :)
- Ashes of Love
My first successful encounter. It was accidental. But you can assume, an enjoyable one. Hooked first by songs, then by story. Loved listening every song from this drama. Already listened for countless times.
*I won’t go about talking who are acting, when it was/is released kinda stuff here. Google is faster than me. Here if it’s already not clear, clearing it now. It’s an admiration post.

2. Legend of Yun Xi
This might be the 2nd drama I had watched. n had fallen in love with drama songs again. Ah! beautiful Chinese songs. I often catch myself nowadays humming the tunes while I am doing some kinda tasks.

3. Ten Miles of Peach Blossom aka Eternal Love
How can I miss this one?! Well! Well! I tried to skip it. Then clip videos kept coming in front of me. Magic of seduction got a hold on me finally. I started seeing from middle episodes!! Then started watching from the first.

4. Eternal Love of Dream
This one, I must say took a while to get me hooked. Sometimes it felt like too complex, too dramatic, other times a bit loose in story here n there. I skimped here n there because of this feeling. But the background scores totally got me flat. Flute music does very funny things to my soul. Can’t ignore!

5. Legend of Fei
I saw this drama of Jhao Li Ying first. Not ‘Princess Agents’. I had to watch it double times. 1st time without English subtitle, then with English subtitle. Didn’t practice enough the skill of waiting. -_- Loved the story, the chemistry between lead characters. Songs are ease to ear. My favorite is the ending piece.

6. The Untamed
Believe me! I had already fallen in love with the word ‘untamed’. I secretly wish to be n to stay untamed at least 80% of myself. Secret is revealed. I was planning to skip this drama too. Even clips was not enough to lure me out of my shell. My little sister recommended it. Then I started giving it a shot. This drama includes quite a bunch violent scenes, can’t deny the fact, though have a nice, well-weaved story line. Songs are few but hardcore rocking.

7. Overlord
Weekly 4 episodes with English subtitles, I remember. This one, I managed not to struggle with skipping. Joined the watching crowd straight off the bat. The episode 5 dance scene, I am willing to bet, everybody bound to love. Overall story is also nice. I have a favorite scene during the playing of the ending song also. About the opening song, my brain got there first. It kinda liked the tune n memorized it pretty fast. About the ending piece, my heart got there first!! Mmm, I am feeling it now while I am writing about it.

8. Legend of Fuyao
Another masterpiece. No arguments. Case closed. Songs, story, scenes all are 200/100. Also happy ending is included. I love happy endings. Period.

9. Princess Silver
When lead characters got their hair all dyed white, I loved the way it has portrayed the scenes. The female lead is very pretty.

10. The Long Ballad
I wasn’t aware of a new drama was coming. Was glad to discover this one. It will never get old, will remain forever young. Story n character development are top notch here. Songs are heart warming. Have few favorites. Couldn’t dare to discriminate!

11. Dating in the Kitchen
I love food related movies. So why not have a drama related to food in my watched list as well? How can I do the injustice? No, justice got assured. This drama is a romantic-comedy blended kinda story. The food shots are heavenly. Story is also enjoyable. The chemistry between leads — enjoyed every bit of interaction on the screen. Also laughed a lot, like really a lot. Good for heart kinda drama.

12. The Love by Hypnotic
It’s an overall funny drama. Though tends to get serious in the later episodes. Songs didn’t disappoint me this time as well. Dramas chosen by me all have beautiful songs, now I think it’s clear as daylight.

13. Princess Agents
I had decided I won’t watch it because everybody but me had finished watching this drama. Everyone is eagerly waiting for now season 2. Here I was pretending I don’t give a shit. Well, then, I got bored n started watching this drama. Now I am also officially waiting for season 2 like everyone if they release any. :/

14. Rattan
This drama is out of this world! I was truly amazed. If I wasn’t before or pretended not to be. The story was new to me. Even the name. Google saved me from my ignorance. N the visuals, I can’t put it in words beautifully enough. Please someone watch it to feel it. Pretty please. Please.

15. Ancient Love Poetry
I think I have a pattern about which drama I will decide to watch. Keep ignoring by every means, then become crazy fan n remain crazy fan of the drama I have finished watching. In short, it indeed looks like this. This piece here is no different. Aftermath is being smitten head over toe with songs, even background music, story n characters. Watched even clips, repeated some episodes n didn’t regret spending my limited time on it! I also made decision When I was planning to turn my drama list into a medium post, I will use this photo shared right below for sure. That was my determination n to some point motivation!! I love this picture. This is adorable. To me it holds a special place in my heart.

16. Cute Programmer
I haven’t watch many dramas based on modern settings. One of few, this one is highly mention worthy. As it’s prominent in the name, it’s story is very cute. Overloaded. About the plot, I am sure many will recognize similarity to others. But visually representation is stunning here. I enjoyed watching it. Even if dramas are imaginary, I love how they put something cultural, traditional elements here n there. That’s also a reason I love watching these dramas. Also, now for a while as a Chinese language learner, I pay more attention to the dialogues. I enjoy their talking in Chinese. A good source of listening practice!

These dramas, I can watch over and over again. Already watched some. It was I think, 2019’s December when I accidentally got in touch with c-drama world through youtube. Gathered some courage n also started learning Chinese language which I dreaded a lot previously. Because I wanted to understand what they are saying beyond ‘thank you’ n ‘sorry’. Even ‘sorry’ was a new word for me then. I only knew ‘ni hao’. Of course I didn’t know the meaning. Used it to mock the language. I maybe mocked too much. While I mocked, I also felt an interest to know it better. Okay, enough here. My language learning journey can be a topic for another post.
Right now, thank you. See you soon. In another post.
